Inter Tribal Health Governance Structure

ITHA is a Society and is governed through the provisions of the Societies Act of B.C., the ITHA Constitution and Bylaws, and, ITHA Governance Policies of the ITHA Board of Directors. The members of the Society are First Nations which signify their membership through a Band Council Resolution. Currently, there are 29 member Nations.  An Annual General Meeting of members is convened each September.  Any changes to the Constitution or Bylaws of ITHA must be approved by its member Nations.

The ITHA Board of Directors has the delegated responsibility for the governance of ITHA.  The Board is comprised of eight Directors: four from the north, four from the south.  The Board has two Co-chairs: one from the south and one from the north.

The entire Board has a three-year term.

The Board of Director governs through written policies.  It employs an Executive Director, who is accountable to the Board for the management of ITHA’s operations.
